About the Soul Art Star Collage in Laüra’s Words

My soul speaks through pictures.

Pictures come to me before words. When I see an image, it opens a dialogue within my inner world, and everything starts to make sense.

I grew up with lots of magazines, and that was pure heaven for me. Whenever the latest issue of National Geographic or Vogue would come out, my heart would skip a beat in excitement. I would ravenously flip through the pages to see what sparked my inspiration.

About 20 years ago, I started collaging to layer my own meaning into the images that were talking to me.

Over the years, I’ve made hundreds of collages from an ever-growing collection of images, cards, calendars and photographs of myself.

Last year I decided it was time to use up ALL the images I had collected and make ONE final piece to bring it all together.

This is my memoir.

Within this Star Collage, there are over 20 years of images that have sparked joy in my soul and held a clue to a bigger story that has been weaving through my life.

The images that speak to me are images that call forth my primal divinity and help me to see and remember the true nature of my essence.

I created the star shape by tracing my legs using my signature Soul Art Bodymapping method. I like to incorporate my own physical body in the base of my art so I literally feel like the images are talking to me and through me.

Every time I look at this piece, a new portal opens and gives me access to another layer of my soul. When speaking the language of soul, there is both an individual and universal quality that feels timeless.
