Going on a Creative Sabbatical

July 30, 2017

Creative energy works in cycles and seasons.

Most of our society thinks of creative energy as a wild burst of expression.  This is definitely an aspect of creativity, but in my experience there is so much more involved in healthy creative energy.  For me it all starts with an open space for dreaming, imagining and simply being.

From a space of ‘being’ our inner roots relax into the deeper realms to be fed and nourished by the soil of our soul.

Creative expression grows naturally from the rich, fertile soil of our soul. To receive the gifts from our soul, we must give ourselves the breathing room to drop into the deeper realms.

Although this approach to creativity is natural and healthy, it often goes against our societies need for constant output and productivity, especially in our world of 24/7 content consumption.

I have found myself in a place where my creativity is calling me to drop my roots deeper into the soil of my soul.

This has been rumbling for awhile, and finally I gave myself permission to name the feelings I’ve been having. My creative energy wants to rest, to dream, to enjoy all I’ve created and allow the next vision to ripen in its own time.

The rest phase of the creative cycle isn’t as sexy as the blossoming phase, because it doesn’t show the proof of labor, but it is equally as important and necessary for authentic creative expression.

I will be honoring the call of my creativity by going on a Creative Sabbatical until 2018.

A Creative Sabbatical is a sacred time to honor the natural flow of your creative energy. It is about trusting the current of your creativity and letting it take you where it wants to go without need or expectation to produce anything. I have found the most magical things come out of these free-flowing times.

During this Creative Sabbatical I will not be sending out the weekly Pure Inspiration Newsletter, this will give me space to lose track of time. I will send periodic updates as they are inspired.

Over the coming months I’ll be giving myself time to enjoy being with my incredible Soul Art Certification group. We have an amazing group of Creative Spirits journeying deep into their natural creative expression. I want to be present with them. I will also be traveling with my creative soulmate Kevin Thom to the West Coast of North America, China and New Zealand to explore, play and of course, do some creative photoshoots for budding projects.

I’m sending you tons of love and I look forward to sharing the magic of this Creative Sabbatical when I return in 2018!
