Thousands of painted sticks are taking over my studio as I work on a fresh new art piece.
Over the past few years, I’ve been gathering fallen sticks during my hikes in the forest and painting them. I’ve lost count at this point, but the piles are mounting into massive color stacks.

The gathering process has dropped me into a kind of primal gathering instinct. It feels like I’ve been collecting materials for a new home. Or perhaps something more symbolic, a nest for a new chapter of my life. I feel like a Mother Bird gathering sticks to build a nest for a new life that is growing within me.
If you’re curious, you can get a glimpse into the new piece I’m working on in my studio…
See what emerges from this colorful chaos! Watch for the completed art piece on Sunday, July 19!
