Top 10 for 2022

December 31, 2022

In 2022 I found myself sitting in the dark corner of the cocoon, patiently waiting while a deeper transformation was taking root underneath.

I call this my transition year. This is the year I transitioned old ways of doing things and allowed space for the wobbly but willful movement towards something nü. I was challenged to speak up for myself on numerous occasions, which in some cases ended relationships, but ultimately liberated my truth to circulate more fully through my body and the world.  I was challenged by old structures and systems that I had previously thrived in. Suddenly they didn’t feel so good and I had to figure out what to do about it. I also connected to a part of myself that had never been needed as much as it was this year… Soul Strength.

When I reflect on the year, I feel relief that it is over. I also feel a sweet satisfaction in knowing that I can show up for a challenge and not only keep my soul intact, but strengthen my spiritual connection in the process.

These are my Top 10 for 2022….

1. Sacred Space to Dream a nü Dream

COVID-19 carved out a big space for all of us to do some deeper thinking about our lives.  This year felt like the first year that I shifted from constantly producing in my business and dreamt into the next chapter for the business and for my life.  I hadn’t realized that for over 10 years straight, I was in super-sonic business mode. That is exactly what I wanted to do at the time, but with the space COVID provided I was able to pause and ponder the kind of life I want to experience.  This was the year I had so much space to Dream a nü Dream.

2. Re-wilding my kitchen

Over the years, I’ve been increasingly up-leveling my nutrition and ways of caring for myself. This year I did a mass overhaul in my kitchen and released old appliances, pots and pans, cutlery, etc…. that were no longer in the vibe I’m desiring. My kitchen became a haven for clear thinking and spiritual nourishment.

3. We started a garden!

This year Kevin and I started a garden on his dad’s land. It was a new adventure for both of us. We started by making a wish list of all the things we wanted to eat from a garden, ordered the seeds, and then got to work. We took a beginner gardening class at the Royal Botanical Gardens and watched our weeds grow. Of course we had some miraculous successes too. Our kale, radishes, carrots, tomatoes, parsley, burdock, and zucchini felt like gifts from the gods. I’m in awe of the miracle of nature.

4. Solo Exhibit at Musea

It was such a joy and honor to have a solo exhibit at Musea called Dream a nü Dream. The show featured a collection of images Kevin and I created throughout our career. Putting the show together required us to reflect on all the images we’ve created over the years and hone it down to around 20 pieces to include in the exhibit. It made me realize how much we’ve done, and how much of our work has never been seen by the public before. Hundreds of people attended our virtual opening to share in the inspiration. This experience was definitely one of the highlights from my year! Thank you to Shiloh McCloud and her team for making this show happen!

5. Yoni Juices

My morning juices evolved into artistic expressions of wild yoni juices.  As I prepared my juice each day I felt like I was feeding my primal body with spiritual nutrients from The Great Mother. A truly nourishing experience that kickstarted my Nüde Beauty Instagram page . This daily yoni juice routine became my devotional practice in self care and mothering myself.

6. International Soul Art® Day

International Soul Art Day has been running for over a decade. We paused it during the pandemic, and this year marked our return to the global gathering. It felt like a homecoming as over 11,000 people came together from around the world to create art together for the day. Soul Art Day holds such a special place in my heart. It is a global experience where I can feel the pulse of our stellar community.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this epic event. YOU make it so special!

7. Color Medicine

Color lifts my spirit! Interestingly, most of my home is cream, white, and muted tones. I realized I did this subconsciously so I could make space for color in my art. When I’m creating I find myself working with color as a language, and when the colors sing I feel the medicine of healing, inspiration, and joy fill my heart and soul.  This year I surrendered to the colors that wanted to dance in my life and gave them free reign to radiate through my art.

8. Star Collage

I had been saving up piles and piles of images from cards, magazines, calendars, and photos for over 20 years. Finally, I decided to use them ALL up and create a giant collage.  This Star Collage became a symbolic culmination of decades of images that had inspired and informed my way of seeing the world.  Watching this piece come together felt like witnessing a vision reach full realization. You can see the making of the Star Collage here. My studio cupboards, once filled with stacks and stacks of images, are now completely empty.  This Star Collage has liberated me to make way for a whole nü wave of art making!

9. Kevin & I

The greatest blessing this year has been my steady and ever expanding relationship with Kevin Thom. He is my partner in life, art, and business. This man is a total gem who emanates grace, compassion, kindness, genius, along with the wild vigor to always do his best. My life is a thousand times better because of the fruits of our loving connection.

10. YOU!

You have touched my heart. Even if we’ve never met in person, I feel your presence and am forever grateful for our connection. Sharing this journey with you gives my life meaning and purpose. Thank you for being part of my life and letting me be part of yours. I am sending you so much love and gratitude for all the ways we’ve been part of each others’ lives this year.

In 2022 I started the Soul Art Community Instagram page to honor the people and creativity in our community. This is for you!

Thank you for being part of my life!
